Nina Merikallio
Photographer Nina Merikallio is passionate about the creative field, whether it is art, design, music or fashion. In her photos she has captured many remarkable Finnish phenomenons of the new century. These include young designers such as IVANAhelsinki, Minna Parikka, Samu-Jussi Koski for Marimekko, Tiia Vanhatapio and newly revived Artek and Nanso.
As a child, Nina loved to "create" new colors by mixing paints in her grandfathers workshop. Now she uses her trained eye by using vivid colors in her photographs. In addition to her use of color she also tends to include distinctly feminine and playful aspects to her work.
Nina lives in Helsinki and loves the city because of its cool and creative vibe. Beside the hot and hip atmosphere she is inspired by different underground scenes as well as previous decades. Her current occupation is fashion and advertisement photography.
