Kaapo Kamu

Kaapo Kamu was born in 1973 and is living and working in Helsinki. After his graduation from Institute of Design in Lahti Kaapo started his further photography studies in the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. Kaapo´s enthusiasm and passion for photography couldn´t hold him still and soon he found himself amongst photo journalism and portraiture photography for several magazines and newspapers. This led him fast into fashion, design and food photography. Working in such different fields of photography he found a common thread and his own special way to capture true beauty in ordinary things.

Kaapo pays a lot of attention to lighting which has an essential role when capturing strong emotions in his photography. 'In my pictures I always aim for a feeling of a true contact and for strong presence as well as easy going outcome'. Sometimes it means crawling behind the model in the long grass, which Kaapo, as an easy going person, does not mind at all.
